It’s not all that hard to grow lemons from seed. They love being outdoors in warm areas, but they can also remain indoors as houseplants that bear fruit. pretty neat, huh? Not just that, but it’s a good looking indoor plant too. Here’s how to do it.

Step 1

Slice up the lemon and pick out the seeds. Rinse those seeds with warm water and use a towel to wipe off as much of the pulp as you can to prevent rotting. The seeds will need to be planted immediately afterward. Do not dry them out.

Step 2

Plant the seeds about a half inch deep in potting soil. Moisten the soil a bit. Cover the pot with plastic wrap and keep it moist. Check the moisture level daily.

Step 3

Once sprouted after about a month or two, keep the plant in sunlight. As much sunlight as you can. It’ll take time to outgrow the cup. Let it do its thing.

Step 4

As the tree outgrows its pot, plant in a new, larger one.

After that, you can decide how large you want the tree to get based on the size of the pot. They’ll grow fairly large even in a smaller pot. You’ll want to do a fertilization of the plant once or twice a year too to keep it healthy. I recommend fish emulsion.
